Sports Instructor I (Youth) - Cross Country Part-Time

$14.50 - 18.83 per hour

Program hours are Mondays and Wednesday from 6:15pm - 7:15pm & Saturdays or Sundays from 7:00am - 1:00pm (weekend hours may vary).

The Youth Cross Country Instructor, under the direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator is responsible for the supervision and instruction of assigned athletics programs. The position will develop lesson plans, as well as evaluate and assess skill level and progress of all participants. The program runs Aug 14 – Oct 17.

  • Ability to communicate aspects of sport to youth participants and parents.
  • Efficiency in organizing and conducting practices. Insure safe and proper instruction.
  • Has the ability to handle participants, team managers and/or coaches under difficult situations.
  • Oversee practice locations and evaluate conditions for safety.
  • Capable of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with fellow employees, various community organizations, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age
  • Previous experience participating in or coaching track/cross country is preferred.
  • A combination of experience and education may be considered.
